February Meeting Minutes

Meeting Dates: 2/1/11 and 2/2/11

Item 1 – Secretary’s Report

• Absences last month: Anna Blaeser, Jordon Dobrowski, Jordan Elton, Becky Guenther, Bradley Hogan, Madeline Paulsen, Alex Tsai
• See Dr. Beach about absences: Anna Blaser, Jordon Dobrowski, Adam Moorse, Madeline Paulsen, Emily Snodgrass, Vlad Sytchev
• Please do not be absent! Many reminders are in the handbook, blog, e-mails etc.
• Members who were absent from Dialogues will need to see Dr. Beach

Item 2 – Treasurer’s Report

• Current NHS balance: ~$3500
• Anticipated expenditures ; Induction Supplies, President’s Forum, Race Director’s conference, State NHS Convention, video for the Induction Ceremony
• Anticipated revenue ; None

Item 3 – Service Update

• Dr. Beach will be contacting members who did NOT turn in their hours or did not meet the standard for chapter membership.
• Team participation in the dodgeball tournament = 1 hr. of service

Item 4 – Blood Drive

• February 15^th planning Committee 2:30pm C332
• Committees & Lunch Tables= 1/2hr worth of service

Item 5 – Save the Date Reminders

• Induction Ceremony is May 24^th – You MUST attend
• Scholarship 5K –April 30^th- Run or volunteer the day of
• March 1^st Blood Drive-participation is mandatory in some way-planning, day of drive, giving blood etc

Item 6 – Dialogues Update

• March 15^th @ 7pm in the PAC – Attendance required
• Spring: Advertising/Global Branding with Professor Carlos Torelli from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management

• Service Opportunity- Greenleaf Spring Carnival May 15^th 4-7pm. Email margo.thomas@charter.net by Monday, May 2, 2011. Can work from 4-7pm or just one shift. Please specify 4-5:30 pm or 5:30- 7 pm. Include Name, phone number and email in your message.

Item 8 – Service Opportunities

• Drinking Water for India- Individual Service Project- see Dr. Beach
• Eastview Speech Team Invitational Sat. Feb. 26^th Wear NHS gear & bring some homework-multiple shifts available. See the blog for more details!
• BHMS is looking for tutors to help with their ELL homework program: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5pm. Contact Mary Klockeman at BHMS if interested.
